THE DATING CODE OF CONDUCT

Jim Sullivan has helped hundreds of gay single men through the perils and pitfalls of the gay dating scene.  The Code is based on his conversations with single gay men over a number of years. Take what you need and leave the rest.

THE DATING CODE:
  1. Be a gentlemen.
  2. Arrive on time for all dates.
  3. Never lie in personals.
  4. Don't be cruising other guys while you're on a date.  Keep your attentin on him.
  5. Don't ask him if he's a top or a bottom on the first date.
  6. Acting cool is not really cool.  Cool=distant.  Be your self.
  7. Do not bully or take advantage of someone you perceive as weaker.
  8. Do not criticize or try to fix your dte.
  9. On all dates leave your inner diva at home.
  10. After a date, don't say, "I'll call you" if you don't mean it.
  11. Don't bad mouth or glorify your ex-boxfriend.
  12. If a man says he doesn't want to see you again, respect his decision. Yes, rejection is a bitch.
  13. No sex on the first three dates.  It works!  It takes the pressure off and allows some time to get to know one another.
  14. LISTEN. An "active" listener is a great skill.
  15. Practice safer sex always.
  16. Straight guys who you think may be gay and closet cases are emotionally unavailable.
  17. Don't judge your date too quickly.  Give him a break.  If not a boyfriend, your date may be a potential best friend!
